pg 93 to 136

After Henrietta's death the largest historical polio epidemic in history took place. Scientists began to make HeLa cells to stop the polio with out crediting Henrietta. Many people believed that the cells came from a woman named Helen Lane. Jerome Syverton wrote letters to Gey to complain about this situation but Gey believed it was protecting Henrietta's identity. After her death, her children were raised by Day and Ethel who hate Henrietta. They do not know what happened to her and are not told. Cootie says during an interview that Henrietta is not talked about in the family. This is because they do not talk about relatives that have pasted away. The HeLa cells are tested on rats and criminals. These criminals are used as lab rats.

Impression:
I was speechless when I hear about the injustice that they does to Henrietta. Also, they treat the criminal very cruel.

Question:
How did they get away with testing on people without law officials say anything?
